Women's Empowerment Spotlight -- Portia Williams

In honor of Women's History Month, we are spotlighting women at #MLGW who have inspired others. Portia Williams is a Systems Operations Compliance Analyst. She works with subject matter experts to develop, interpret, analyze, organize, and assess processes and procedures with compliance to federal and state regulations as they relate to the integrity of our electric, gas and water systems. Her coworkers say she wears many hats and Portia admits that she tries to help everyone that she can. “My parents always taught me that hard work and dedication will take you far in life as well as in your career.”

Women's Empowerment Spotlight -- Bessie Matthews

In honor of Women's History Month, we are spotlighting women at #MLGW who have inspired others. Bessie Matthews is currently a Human Resource Representative in the Insurance Department but has worked in several departments at the Division. Bessie is described as one of the most helpful and caring employees at MLGW. Bessie says, “We all recognize that insurance benefits are valuable assets, although they can be a little overwhelming.  For this reason, I imagine myself in the shoes of the customer, our Division employees and retirees. We are fortunate when we can be of service to others. Treating people with dignity and respect has always helped me to succeed.”

Women's Empowerment Spotlight - Eliza King

In honor of Women's History Month, we are spotlighting women at #MLGW who have inspired others. Eliza King, our Director of Customer Care, is known as "The Clean Up Lady" by her coworkers because she has been assigned to many different departments for the sole purpose of getting them cleaned up and working like they should.

Eliza says the secret to her success is learning as much as she can about the company. "It didn't matter what area I was working in, I continued to learn and grow. I have always tried to respect others. I have always practiced consistency and fair treatment of everyone.  And finally, I work hard, no matter what the task is. I will take it on, and work until it's completion."
