Management made its power supply recommendation of TVA’s Long Term Partnership Proposal (LTPP) as its power provider to the Board of Commissioners at a special called board meeting on September 1.
TVA’s LTTP demonstrates the greatest value and least risk for MLGW customers when compared to all other RFP alternatives. It also provides immediate savings, up to approximately $34M to our customers once the contract is executed. It is the only proposal that has this benefit.
The LTPP includes flexibility allowing MLGW to deploy a range of technologies including solar generation to support local renewable and sustainability goals.
By continuing the TVA relationship MLGW customers will have access to additional home weatherization/efficiency programs. TVA will develop Memphis as a hub for all activities to address customer’s energy burden.
The LTPP also provides the opportunity for enhanced direct involvement in TVA planning and decision making.
The public is invited to comment over the next thirty days via email: PowerSupply@mlgw.org and at board meetings.
The vendors’ submitted proposals can be viewed on our website: mlgw.com/powersupplyinfo
Management will ask the Board to approve a resolution in support of the recommendation at a later date this year. If Board approves, a subsequent request for Memphis City Council approval will follow.
