Sky high regards

Over 200 employees as well as friends and family attended a balloon release at Electric Distribution-North Center on August 24 celebrating the life of lineman Michael C. Nowlin, was fatally injured on the job on August 11 at the age of 49. He dedicated 18 years of his life serving the people of Memphis with power at MLGW.

Nowlin’s daughters, Maigon Campbell-Nowlin and Britani Campbell-Nowlin were among the family members at the ceremony. They released a half-dozen giant golden balloons before the crowd released red, white and blue balloons, collectively uttering Nowlin’s often heard salutation, “Love. Peace. Hair Grease.”

As a part of the service, Nowlin’s crew built a memorial from a salvaged utility pole with Nowlin’s name on it. Sitting on top was a yellow electrical worker hard hat and a wrap-around sunglasses. Later, a hard hat signed by the electrical workers was added to the memorial.
