Nathan Smith, Strategic IT Systems Business Consulting, was awarded a Lifestyle Change Award at this year’s Mid-South Heart Walk on Saturday, April 23, at the FedEx Forum. “Healthy for Good” was designed to inspire people to create lasting change in their health and their lives, one small step at a time.
The approach is simple: Eat smart. Add color. Move more. Be well.
Nathan was recognized for making positive changes. He educated himself on healthy eating and cooking, started preparing home cooked meals, and planned and prepped meals throughout the week to ensure a balanced diet.
“I am getting older and have suffered with some chronic health issues due to being overweight and not eating a healthy diet. I reached a breaking point in November of last year and knew I had to make a serious and permanent change,” he says.
By eating lower carb whole foods and simultaneously intermittently fasting he was able to lose 50 pounds. He is grateful to his wife who has supported him. They have a saying that keeps them motivated: “It is more important to stay on the program long term than to eat perfectly on the program.”
Way to go, Nathan!
