Our new Board of Commissioners meeting American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter, Brenda Cash, is a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults) and the mother of two, including one son who is deaf. She has worked as a certified interpreter for over 20 years but has been using ASL since she was one year old.
Brenda is currently the Director for Bridges for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing-BridgesWEST office. When she is not overseeing the activities in the Memphis office, she is either assisting Deaf/HH clients in the office or out in the field.
“I have a huge heart for the Deaf, Deaf-Blind, Hard of Hearing community, and serving the community is my passion,” she says.
The BridgesWEST office has teamed up with the Memphis office of Youth Services to provide resources for their youth program. They also partner with the Mayor's office and the Shelby County Health Department to provide accessible communication during the COVID-19 news briefings.
“Providing effective and accurate communication is truly why I love what I do,” says Brenda.
