Demolition of Arlington LNG Plant to Take Place Today

The demolition of the decommissioned Arlington LNG plant at 11095 Millington-Arlington Road will take place on Monday, March 5, by Memphis Wrecking Company, Inc. The construction hours will be from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Noise from the demolition could be significant, and some traffic limitations may be in effect as well during the construction.

The results of a 2007 Hazards Mitigation Study also led to the decommissioning of the plant. The study revealed that the cost required to safely utilize the LNG storage tank was simply not worth the investment for MLGW.
