Tonja joined MLGW in 1992 and worked in Credit for many years. She was borrowed to work on Special Projects under Eliza King with the launch of smart meters and Prepay. Since Prepay was new, she learned the functionalities and became a Subject Matter Expert. She says, “There was still a lot of programming that had to be done on the Prepay system. Mike Hopkins offered me a permanent position during the re-org. The Title is Computer Software Specialist but really it's a SME position. “ Since Tonja was pretty familiar with the CIS system already, she does a lot of testing to ensure that programs are working properly before being put into production. Keep reading to learn more about Tonja…
 
The best part of her job:
Helping coworkers and customers to the best of my ability. I also love working in the CIS department because there are always some new technologies or functions to learn that keeps the job interesting and broadens my knowledge of our CIS system.
 
How COVID has affected her work:
I actually work more hours, not because I have to but because I want to! There's no need now to rush home from work since I'm already here. I'm also able to assist coworkers with questions anytime of the day because my system is readily available.
 
Something most of her coworkers don't know:
I'm a "Tomboy" at heart. I love to ride motorcycles, wash my car, cut the grass and I try to fix stuff when it breaks. My husband actually hides tools from me!
 
What we can find her doing on a Saturday afternoon:
Cleaning the house, helping at my church, doing some yard work, reading or just being with my family and friends. 
 
Hidden/secret talents:
I used to play the piano when I was younger for the church Sunday School, but I lost interest because I'd rather play tag football outside with friends. I still have the piano that my mom bought me years ago, but I never play it.
