Oak Court Mall is offering "preferred parking spaces" to drivers of hybrid vehicles during the holidays.

The highly coveted spaces are also available to carpool drivers with at least three passengers.

The spaces were created early this month and are part of the mall's eco-friendly "Simon's Shop Smarter" program, said spokeswoman Susan Eads.

The system, however, is not flawless, Eads admitted.

Customers are asked to bypass the designated spots if they do not meet the guidelines.

"It will operate on the honor system," she said.
