To enhance "green" efforts and to help citizens create environmentally friendly and sustainable households, the city of Germantown is holding a Living Green in Germantown Outdoor Expo on Saturday, September 20th, at Germantown Municipal Park.
"Germantown wants to take action to prevent one of the biggest threats to the future of our city and the planet — global warming," says Michelle McDonnell, the city of Germantown's programs and marketing coordinator. "The city is committed to leading by example and helping everyone take steps today to reduce climate-changing pollution in our homes, at work, and on the road."
The expo will feature a number of booths providing information on a variety of green topics, such as the renewable power options offered by MLGW. Local dealers and distributors also will be on hand to discuss energy-efficient cars and fuels, local design firms will explain how to save money and natural resources by building energy-efficient homes and offices, and representatives will promote the advantages of buying organic foods and green household products and paper supplies. You can even find out the city's take on water conservation and zeroscaping and hear a presentation on Germantown's Smart Growth Plan.
"We hope to open some eyes — everyone of all ages — in demonstrating the many benefits of living green — both now and in the future," McDonnell says.
