In honor of the 40th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s assassination, Rev. Al Sharpton, representing the National Action Network, led a “Recommitment March” march from City Hall down the Main Street Mall to the Civil Rights Museum on Friday afternoon. Martin Luther King III, many celebrities, elected officials, and thousands of citizens participated in the rally. I got a peek out of my office window and was able to catch the tail end of it on my way home for the day.
Earlier in the day, we got a glimpse of the memorial march by the sanitation workers and their supporters that began at the AFSCME offices on Beale and ended at National Civil Rights Museum.
