For the last few days, my ordinarily lazy cat has wanted to spend the majority of her time outdoors. No doubt it is because Spring is in the air and soon baby birds will be on the ground.
Our resident Substation Engineer/bird watcher recently attended a program on rehabilitating injured and orphaned songbirds by midtown resident, Brenda Bostick. Brenda is a trained rehabilitator with federal and state permits, who uses her own time and money to nurse injured and orphaned birds back to health and release them back into the wild. Saving baby birds requires a lot of effort. They need to be kept warm (97 degrees) and fed every 30 minutes through daylight hours (about 14).
Barbara's website Wild Wing Rescue has a lot of good information on what to do if you find an injured or abandoned bird.
