MLGW Mourns the Death of Larry Papasan, former Division President

Larry Papasan became president in 1984 and redirected the Division toward our primary mission as a distributor of electricity, natural gas and water. He also emphasized some of the basic principles which led to the creation of MLGW more than 80 years ago: customer satisfaction, employee satisfaction and distribution of utility services at the lowest possible cost.

At the time, he was the first president since 1969 to be "home-grown," or promoted through a career with the Division.

Motivated by his personal beliefs, advice from his wife, Dianne, and goals to make MLGW a more personable, relatable company to the city of Memphis, Papasan will be remembered as innovative and service oriented. He retired from the Division in 1991. He died on May 1, 2022 at the age of 81.
