The NAACP Memphis Branch hosted a weatherization workshop in partnership with MLGW & TVA on Tuesday.
MLGW’s Will Williams talks with two participants about attic insulation at
Tuesday night’s weatherization program held at First Baptist Broad Church, 2835
Broad Avenue. Williams recommended cellulose as the most affordable. He added
that foam insulation is considered the best but pricey.
While Margie Borrum-Smith unrolls a piece of plastic sheeting, Will Williams
explains how to install the sheeting over a window with a hairdryer. The
hairdryer shrinks the plastic and provides a seal to prevent drafts. Both
Borrum-Smith and Williams are a part of MLGW’s Energy Services
program.
(Left to Right:) Wonda McGowan and Cheryl Muhammad, both with the National
Association of Real Estate Brokers, were among about 45 people who attended
Tuesday night’s weatherization program at First Baptist Broad Church. Everyone
left the evening with a bag filled a half-dozen light bulbs, weather stripping,
chalking and other energy saving measures valued at $100.
