MLGW and MIFA are teaming up again to
present the second annual Lip Sync Plus contest
hosted by the Hard Rock Café on April 20.
LipSync Plus is a lip
syncing competition that pits local celebrities against finalists from the
community.
The LipSync Plus contest begins now with an online
competition where anyone in MLGW’s service territory can submit their videos to
become a finalist. The deadline for online submissions is March 29, and there
is no fee to enter.
Contestants can upload their video and find contest rules at
lipsyncplus.com.
The top four vote getters in the online competition will compete in the LipSync
Plus 2017 Grand championship. Prizes include two airline tickets from Allegiant
Airlines.
Celebrity competitors are: Kerry Diamon Holliday, star of
CMT’s television series Sun Records;
Shelby County Mayor Mark H. Luttrell, Jr.: local radio personality with KJMS
and WDIA Stan “the bell ringer” Bell; Cynthia Daniels, founder of Black
Restaurant Week, and Leigh Shockey, CEO of Drexel Chemical. There will also be
a guest performance by LaTasha Peeples, the 2016 LipSync Plus Community and
Grand Champion.
Celebrity judges include Joe Birch, WMC-TV, Holly Whitfield,
I Love Memphis blogger, and
Paula Raiford, owner of Paula and Raiford's Disco. Katrina Coleman with the
Memphis Comedy Festival will serve as emcee. For ticket and event information,

Since 1982, MIFA and MLGW have provided emergency utility
assistance for families in need through the Plus-1 program. Plus-1 is funded by
MLGW customers who add $1 or more to their monthly utility bills.
