The Annual Race to CARE is an MLGW-sponsored event in partnership with Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association.
Overview: Did you know the State of Tennessee and MLGW consistently lead the country in energy consumption at 38% and 32% respectively above the national average?
This excessive energy use results in higher utility bills, wasted resources, and less disposable income for our customers.
Purpose: The Project CARE Customer Assistance Program is a residential energy efficiency and conservation program designed to help MLGW customers reduce their energy consumption by providing the necessary capital and labor to make minor repairs to their primary residence.
Program Details: In addition to receiving home repairs, customers will also attend workshops hosted by MLGW energy experts that educate them on how to use energy more wisely to lower their energy consumption and reduce their utility bill. All repairs completed under this program will consist of efforts needed to seal the envelope of the home, provide the necessary levels of insulation, and stop all leaks associated with water and/or gas.
Distribution of Funds: In partnership with Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association (MIFA), all donated funds will be tax deductible. Funds will be distributed to low to moderate income homeowners as determined by the selection committee appointed by Memphis Light, Gas and Water. Energy efficiency repairs will be limited to $500 per customer.
Donations received from the Share the Pennies Program and MLGW’s Race to CARE 5K Run/Walk will be the primary funding sources for Project CARE.
In partnership with Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association (MIFA), Memphis Light Gas and Water Division (MLGW) are excited to announce the Annual Race to CARE 5-K Run/Walk on Saturday, November 17th at Shelby Farms. Click here to REGISTER.
