The shot clock has been reset and our postponed basketball tourney has been rescheduled. Time to play some hoops, enjoy some great team competition and help raise funds for United Way.
The 4th Annual MLGW United Way Basketball Tournament has been rescheduled for the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, November 10-11 at Penny Hardaway’s Fast Break Court in the Methodist University Gym at 1287 Linden near Central High School.
The teams competing in the tournament are made up of MLGW meter readers, MLGW overhead electric employees; Memphis Express – a team founded by Penny Hardaway that has won the tournament the last two years; the Mt. Moriah All Stars; a team from Comcast; and a team of players who play overseas.
The tourney benefits United Way of the Mid-South and runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on November 10 and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on November 11. The championship game begins at 5 p.m. Sunday, November 11. Admission is only $1; children 12 and under are free. Parking is available in the Central High School lot directly across from the gym on Linden Ave. A banner will be displayed in front of the gym with MLGW United Way Basketball Tournament on it to identify the location, and there’s a map on the poster at left.
Don’t miss out on some great basketball competition that benefits the great work United Way does in our community. The tournament is presented by MLGW’s annual United Way Campaign. For more information, contact organizer Kevin Watkins, MLGW Work Process Management Alignment, at 528-4711 or kwatkins@mlgw.org.
