We had a great time at the Down to earth Festival at Shelby Farms on Saturday!
A TVA/MLGW sign was attached to the "porch" of the UT Living Light House, a solar decathlon project that is touring the state to promote sustainable design.
At our booth, Frank Fletcher, Jackie Royston and Becky Williamson shared information and energy kits with attendees.
At the Sharp booth, they were using toys to generate electricity to light a bulb. There were also solar cells that create electricity to operate a fan. (It was very cloudy, so not much generation most of the day.)
Attendees also boarded a shuttle bus to tour the Agricenter's solar farm.
High school students learned about the 998 kW solar farm on 5 acres at Agricenter from Agricenter President John Charles Wilson and Tim Roberts, who directs educational programs for the Agricenter.
