A powerful weather front blew through the Southern U.S. Monday evening bringing gusty winds and heavy rains that caused widespread power outages across the region.
The peak impact arrived in the Mid-South around 10 p.m. Monday night and passed by early morning. More than 150,000 customers lost power in AR/TN/MS/AL/MO, and about 5,000 MLGW customers were impacted. Many customers across the region remain without power.
MLGW restored power for most of its customers by 2:30 a.m. Gusty winds have continued throughout the morning and have caused additional smaller outages - typically from tree branches impacting overhead infrastructure. As the front continues to move through, MLGW is ready and is responding with a full complement of MLGW and contracted crews.
MLGW has an Outage Center on mlgw.com which includes information on reporting and tracking outages as well as a preparedness guide for customers with additional tips and general information to get ready for any weather emergency: mlgw.com/StormPrep

Our Cordova community between I40 and Shelby Farms lost power three times recently (Christmas Day, Jan 6 and Jan 8). This is to request that MLG&W focus on the electrical problem in this area PRIOR to severe cold weather expected the week of Jan 13!!
