It’s
spring, when our thoughts turn to… digging. Whether it’s excavating, planting,
landscaping or that new addition, we want you to be safe. No one wants to hit a
natural gas or electric line and “go BOOM!”
April
is National Safe Digging Month, and it’s a good time to remind you to call 811,
the safe-digging hotline, before you or your contractor engage in any digging
project. It’s free, and it’s the law. Call 811 several days before you plan to
dig and Tennessee One Call and MLGW will mark your utility lines within 72
hours (three business days). Always make sure any contractors you hire have had
your lines located and marked before you allow them to begin any digging job.
MLGW’s
Gas Engineering employees and MLGW volunteers were at Shelby County Lowe’s Home
Improvement stores Friday, March 27 for Natural Gas Safety Awareness Day. They
talked to customers and gave them information about natural gas safety and Call
Before You Dig.
Be
safe this spring. Don’t forget to call 811 before you do any digging. For more
details, visit www.mlgw.com/811.
