MLGW Crews Work Through Weekend to Restore Power

More rain expected today.

8:30 a.m. Approximately 2,600 MLGW customers are without since a storm struck the Shelby County area Thursday afternoon. Full restoration is still anticipated to occur around midnight Sunday.

MLGW and outside contract crews are working all day today to restore power. Restoration delays may occur because rain is expected late this afternoon.

Customers are urged to update their outage information by calling 544-6500. Call 528-4465 to report downed lines; please treat any downed line as if it is live and keep your distance. Do not assume that we know your power is out.

Many customers could be restored before midnight Sunday. However, if a customer does not have power nor an estimated restoration time, we are urging them to find a cooler place to stay until a crew can address their outage. Customers should also check on their elderly and disabled neighbors.

Customers are reminded to call the following numbers:

• To Report an Outage: 544-6500

• To Report an Emergency (such as downed lines or gas leaks): 528-4465

• All Other Inquiries: 544-MLGW (6549)

• Outage numbers can be tracked via MLGW's outage map at mlgw.com/residential/outagemap.

MLGW highly recommends that you have an "Emergency Kit" in case electric, gas or water service is interrupted.

An emergency survival kit could include:

• Bottled water
• Canned food
• Prescription medicines
• Flashlight
• Radio
• Batteries
• Can opener
• First-aid kit
• Baby food
• Diapers
• Eating utensils
