How do you teach your kids about energy?
My co-worker tried explaining the issue, tried showing her tweens the gaps around the metal door when the prime door isn't closed, tried asking "who's killing the polar bears?" when they left the doors open....you name it.
She says the only thing that's worked is making them use the EnergyHog before allowing them to do what they want to do online.
Now there are a couple of new websites to add to her arsenal...
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the Advertising Council just announced the launch of a new series of public service advertisements (PSAs) designed to educate tweens aged 8-12 about the importance of energy efficiency.
The new campaign entitled “What’s Your Excuse?” highlights the simplicity of making energy efficient changes in the home and asks kids to join millions of others to make a difference by using their energy wisely.
The new TV, radio, outdoor and web advertising encourages kids to save energy with an Energy Action Plan, a simple 10-step action list to help encourage better energy use in the home.
A second series of PSAs use Tinkerbell and her friends to educate 8-9 year-olds on positive energy efficient habits.
There's even interactive Energy Source Sudoku!
