And now for something completely different...
Club4Climate launched the world’s first ecological club in London. With it’s own wind turbine and solar energy system, the club plans to donate surplus electricity to locals, making this the first business to provide free energy. The dance floors contain crystal blocks which generate up to 60 percent of the club’s electricity, much of which will go towards powering the air-conditioner.
Recycling and reusing is also high on the agenda. Tables are made of magazines, the walls out of old mobile phones, and there’s a bathtub-cum-sofa. Waterless urinals save 90 gallons of water, and the club gathers rainwater. The wine is also fair trade and organic.
The club requires that all patrons sign a pledge to help fight global warming; it also waives the admission fee for those who can prove they traveled there by foot, bicycle or public transport.
