From the Memphis Business Journal:
Memphis restaurants promote tap water movement
Four Memphis restaurants are participating in a consumer advocacy group's campaign called Take Back the Tap, which focuses on reducing the environmental impact of bottled water.
Circa, Stella, Boscos Squared and R.P. Tracks are serving only tap water Thursday.
"Bottled water is nothing but a corporate hoax to trick consumers into paying hundreds, sometimes thousands more for a product than what it is actually worth," says Wenonah Hauter, executive director of Food Water Watch, in a release. "Tap water is just as safe and healthy as bottled water, and is a far more cost-effective choice."
The group is trying to get local restaurants and chefs across the country to sign a pledge to serve only tap water, help educate customers about the benefits of tap over bottled water, and to install a carbonation machine to make sparkling water from the tap.
Food Water Watch is a nonprofit consumer rights organization based in Washington, D.C.
