Carbon monoxide leak could have killed S. Memphis mom
and children

(WMC-TV) - A Mid-South woman is one step to having a safer home for family,
after contacting the Action News Five Investigators. She says issues in her home
on Worthington Street has caused major issues for family.
Janayah Ivory and her four children have lived in the South Memphis home for three months.
She says she doesn't want to move but may have to if the company that manages the home doesn't make some necessary repairs.
"I'm fighting mad because what I'm asking for is reasonable," said Ivory.
A box fan sits in Janayah Ivory's hallway to keep her and her family cool.
She says her house has been as hot as 81 degrees inside because of problems with her air conditioner.
"The ductwork is not properly sealed in the attic ... So in essence, I'm cooling my attic," said Ivory.
That is not the only thing.
"The shower in the master bedroom is leaky, the toilet runs where you have to jiggle the handle," she said.
Several weeks ago, she and her daughter began having headaches.
When she called MLGW to come out and take a look, that's when they found a major problem.
"The pipe that carries your carbon monoxide from your home isn't connected at all at your hot water heater," said Ivory.
MLGW documented the problems and then turned them over to the home's management company, Revid Property Management.
Ivory says she has called Revid Properties repeatedly and they have only come out twice to address her complaints.
"Someone came out yesterday and he said that the unit is old and there's nothing wrong with it," says Ivory.
Revid Property Management says they have been out numerous times to look at the issues.
"At the end of the day, we just want her to be a happy resident. We have no reason not to complete the required repairs and we're happy to do so," said Brandon Kamm with Revid Property Management.
Revid says most of the repairs have been made.
"I spend money and pay my rent, I spent money and pay my MLGW bill. You're gonna have to spend money and fix the issues," continues Ivory.
Officials at Revid Properties tell Action News Five they'll have all the necessary repairs made to Ivory's home by this Friday.
